Marhaba, I am Hind, and I plan private trips in Morocco from Marrakech.
Everyone is going to Morocco this year, and I get one question more than any other: “Will it be crowded?” The honest answer is that some places will be. But a busy year does not have to mean a crowded trip, and most of the difference comes from how the days are planned.
The numbers: 15.7 million visitors
Morocco had welcomed 15.7 million visitors by the end of September 2026, about 5% more than the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism as reported by Morocco World News.
That is good news for the country, and it is the reason the famous places can feel full at the hours everyone chooses to visit.
Three ways I plan around the crowds
1. Go early or late to the famous places
The big sights are busiest in the middle of the day, when tour groups and day-trippers overlap. I arrange visits for the start or the end of the day, so you see the same places with more room to breathe and better light for photos.
2. Pick one quieter region
Most first-time itineraries repeat the same cities. I add one region off the main circuit, so part of your trip feels like a discovery rather than a queue. Which region depends on your season, your pace and what you want to see. The photo above is one example: the Mgoun River valley near Kelaat M’Gouna, which I took from a viewpoint on one of my own trips.
3. Leave one day empty
A day with nothing booked is the most valuable day of the trip. It gives you time to follow a recommendation, rest, or stay longer somewhere you love. It also gives us room to adapt if something changes.
Why a private trip changes the day
On a fixed group tour, the schedule is set for the group. On a private trip, the route moves with you.
If a place is full at 10 a.m., we go at 4 p.m. If you are tired, we slow down. If you fall in love with a village, we stay. That flexibility is what keeps a busy year from feeling like a busy trip, and it is why I design every itinerary around the people travelling, not a package.
Questions I am often asked
Is Morocco too crowded to visit in 2026?
No. Visitor numbers are up, but careful timing and one or two choices off the main route make a big difference.
What is the best time of day to visit the famous places?
Usually early morning or late afternoon, when the midday rush has passed. The best hour varies by place, which is why I plan it for each trip.
Do I need a private tour to avoid the crowds?
It is not required, but a private trip gives you the flexibility to change the order and timing of your days.
How far ahead should I plan?
The earlier the better, especially for the Sahara and for popular travel dates. Send me your dates and I will tell you what is realistic.
